Florida Gypsum Drywall Contractor License

A Florida Gypsum Drywall Contractor (SCC) is a contractor whose scope of work is limited to the installation of all necessary and incidental metal accessories, including non-load bearing metal studs, runners, hangers, channels, drywall metal suspension accessories and prefabricated ceiling materials; and the preparation of the surface over which drywall product is to be applied. This includes the application of base and finish coats specifically designed for the gypsum drywall products of their own erection. This category shall not include plastering, block, or wood partitions.

Florida Gypsum Drywall Contractor Exams

The Florida Gypsum Drywall Contractor Examination in Florida consists of a Business and Finance and Trade Knowledge exam. You have to pass BOTH parts of the Gypsum Drywall Contractors exam and meet the minimum experience requirements to activate the Gypsum Drywall Contractor license. Both parts of the Gypsum Drywall Contractor exam are administrated as computer-based exams. The total examination fee for first time licensees is $295.

Gypsum Drywall Trade Knowledge Exam

This 5 hour, 80 question open book examination covers topics such as Gypsum and Gypsum Wallboard Installations, Taping and Texturing, Metal Stud Walls and Ceiling Grid Systems, and Special Applications. For detailed Gypsum Drywall examination content, click here.

Business and Finance Exam

This 6 hour and 30 minute, 120 question open book examination covers topics such as Establishing the Contracting Business, Managing Administrative Duties, Managing Trade Operations, Conducting Accounting Functions, Managing Human Resources, and complying with Government Regulations.
